New board member for Stewart Milne Group

Stewart Milne Group has announced the appointment of Alex Goodfellow to its Main Board.

Previously Managing Director of Stewart Milne Homes Central Scotland, Mr Goodfellow will have overall responsibility for Stewart Milne Timber Systems and will take the role of Group Managing Director – Timber Systems UK.

Alex Goodfellow has over 25 years’ experience in the sector, starting as an Architectural Technician with Walker Homes and then as Chief Architect at Beazer Homes before moving to the Stewart Milne Group in 1991. Having spent two years as Technical Director of Stewart Milne Timber Systems, he was appointed Managing Director in 2003.  During his tenure, he led the Scottish timber frame industry into large panel safe crane erection which is now the industry norm. In 2006 he was appointed Managing Director of Stewart Milne Homes Central Scotland where he has led the business to growth and success.   His appointment demonstrates the focus the Group places on succession planning and development of its people.

Commenting on Alex’ appointment to the Board, Glenn Allison, Group Managing Director, said:  “This is a well-deserved move for Alex and is testament to the importance we place on our award-winning Timber Systems Division.  He brings a very senior focus to the Group that will strengthen our Board, at an exciting time when we are investing heavily in innovation and new product development. He has always been an asset to the company and we are delighted to welcome him to the Board.”

Alex Goodfellow said: “With growing demand for cost efficiency and innovation, the company is focusing on pioneering initiatives that will prove timber frame as the most sustainable, practical and efficient construction method.  I am looking forward to steering the business forward at this pivotal time and reaffirming our position as the market leader during the next stage in its evolution.”
