Giving kids in Kenya a Chance

Stewart Milne Timber Systems are again supporting the Gathimba Edwards Foundation – Giving Kids in Kenya a Chance. This year our 8 Volunteers are travelling to Iten to build four Houses for families who are living in cramped and horrible conditions.

One of the families we are building a house for currently live in the most cramped conditions. Six children and their mother sleep in this mud hut by the side of the road, with an older child, Nicholas sleeping in a similar hut down the road. They previously lived in the forest but were evicted by the Government and then put
on a waiting list for a home. They were 10th on the list but when it came to their turn the local area Chief stole the land and gave it to his son, leaving them to remain in these desperate and dangerous conditions.

Our “Magnificient 8” volunteers from a cross section from both offices and factories, Lydia Ross, and Sean Reid from Aberdeen, Jen McMillan and Declan Stephen from Tannochside and Kevin Bull, Neil Weeks, Steve Bali and Lukasz Serwotka from our Witney offices are looking forward to the experience of a lifetime.
